Week 30 from Lex's View

Hello Friends,

This week was Thanksgiving, and a thankful day it was. I've decided that being thankful should last every day of the year, even if the humans are not celebrating it by stuffing their faces with turkey, mashed potatoes, and pies every day of the year! Not that I would know anything about food and treats... and food and treats....and food and treats!!!!!! :)

POINTS of Thankfulness:
1. I'm grateful to be a representative for my organization, Guiding Eyes for the Blind. Everywhere I go, people ask about me. I also help with presentations where I get to tell others why my school and job is oh-so-great. People need to know about Guiding Eyes because someday, they or one of their friends may need a guide dog. Or, maybe someday, they want to raise a puppy for Guiding Eyes...or maybe they want to donate money to support the programs. The possibilities are endless!

2. I'm grateful to have had my first Thanksgiving with my puppy raising mom. By next year at this time, I will have gone on to college or whatever other career I decide to pursue. But, for right now, I'm glad that I can be with mom for several more months.

3. I'm grateful for something called "Christmas" that's coming soon (so mom says). I was trying to fall asleep the other night when mom was ordering somethings on her computer. I'm pretty sure I sniffed something out that something in the "cart" was for me. I can't wait to see what it's all about.

This week, I went to a nearby school all day. There's this teacher who used to raise puppies for Guiding Eyes, and she's starting to get involved again. She wanted mom and me to go to her school to present about Guiding Eyes to the students. We gave the presentation (including a powerpoint presentation with lots of adorable pictures of yours truly!) to a total of 7 classes from grades 5th to 12th! Fortunately, I wasn't the one doing the talking! I was off leash during all the presentations. I did a great job auto settling and chewing the toys. I LOVED the toy basket. It was sooo fun!

This room even had a crate. I enjoyed taking a nap as I felt the need for one..(which was most of the time!!)

This is a real life age progression!!! I think I've grown up....just a little!!!!

The last presentation of the day was in the auditorium with lots of young kids. Hey who's that cool guy on the wall???! Oh, that's right it's me. I didn't realize I was that handsome!!!

Sometimes, mom has me practice "down stays"...I do a very good job remaining in the spot, even if mom moves around and out of my sight.

I went to the park and had fun on the playground equipment!

Mom and I practiced stays and recalls under these picnic tables. It helped me practice 3 things...my stay, my recall, and also, having me be in a small space.

I went visited the great Falls! Oh, I guess they are actually, the mini-water falls.

There were men working at the park. There was a large machine and also, a chainsaw. Cool stuff!

I played the game "Sorry." I even brought my pink bone to the game!! I don't know why people were saying "Sorry" all the time!

Harlow and I played Monopoly!! We played it so long that we just had to take a nap!!

I went on a fun walk in the snow.

It was lots of fun!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my wonderful readers!

During Thanksgiving dinner, Harlow and I "placed" on our bed. I chewed my favorite bone and then, napped. We were sooo good and never got up during the whole meal!

On Gray Thursday night (also known as Thanksgiving!), I went shopping with mom at Peebles. I did a really, really good job. It was super busy with lots of people, but I did an awesome job focusing on the job at hand.

I settled while mom browsed.

When bored...wink to the camera!!

Okay, I'll be nice, and give you a nice face, mom!

I went into the dressing room with mom. I was a very good and patient boy!

Shoes, anyone?

I took a walk after I went shopping. The Christmas lights were pretty, and I did a great job walking nicely....even if the sidewalks were icy!

Where are all the cars?

Frozen's Olaf snowman is inside!!!

I went to the Dollar General.

Did you know they have a pet section? I was hoping mom would say..."Go on a shopping spree, this one is on my bill." Unfortunately, I never heard that statement, so I was just a very good boy...and got some treats for being so good!

Hey....Olaf shows up everywhere!!

I was VERY patient as I waited in line to check out.

Harlow and I were trying to help mom vacuum these steps. It was so tiring....

....I had to take a nap!!

How do I look in tinsel??!

Olaf, the snowman, and I are like best friends!!

Harlow and me!

We posed by the town Christmas tree. Something really isn't right...the forest is spreading to main street, too. I think they must have searched the entire forest for a tree this tall!

Mom went to the bank. Harlow and I definitely know what that means---doggie bones!!!

We each got 2 bones.

Harlow and I went to the Christmas tree lighting and parade. It was cold outside, so we wore our red jackets..Thank goodness mom didn't make me wear the red tutu dress that she always has her other dogs wear to the parade.

These red big cars are really loud and bright. I don't know why they were complaining so much!

It's hard to tell, but there were a team of horses in the parade and giving people rides. I saw the horses several times during the course of the evening, and one time, they were so close I almost could have given them a high five. But, instead, I look at them briefly and checked in with mom. She was super impressed with me not being distracted by them.

Waiting for the tree to be lit.......as we waited, lots of people (and kids) petted us. We both did a great job. Some of the kids were shorter than I....Do you think they are THAT SHORT or am I THAT TALL?? Can't quite wrap my brain around it!

...there it is, all pretty!!

I found this really pretty nativity. I thought it should be a live nativity with a "real animal," so I joined it.

Then, Harlow joined me, too. :)

The snow is really fun stuff!

Please note that I'm starting to make Harlow look like a mini-Lab...and we all know that she isn't even that tiny!!

Oreo is sleeping!! But, I want to play...PLEASE??!!

 Until Next Week,
Lex
