Week 27 from Lex's View

Hello Friends,
Another week of fun, learning, play, and naps!

For this week's edition of gratefulness leading up to Thanksgiving....
1. I'm grateful to have chew toys. Dogs have a natural desire to chew, and I'm grateful for Nylabones!
2. I'm grateful that I'm allowed to train and practice all my skills in public places, like Wal-Mart, Shoe Department, Lowe's, etc. where pet dogs aren't allowed.
3. I'm grateful that I got a WONDERFUL report on my evaluation this week.

There is something white. There is something cold. There is something wet.
IT'S SNOW!!!!!!!!!!! (So mom says)

This stuff is really cool.

The next morning, there was more of this white stuff.

Mom says my coloring is a nice contrast with the snow. Whatcha think?

Happy Sunday! I went to church and helped mom play music. I wore my Bills bandana to support the Bills...then, I was told that the Bills were on by-week. Oh, well....a REAL Bills fan supports their team every week!

These are my 2 new toys. I LOVE chewing, chewing, and chewing these bones. I realy like the tan one the best!

I went walking at a park and practiced my loose leash skills.
I played at this super fun place for the first time. It's a fenced in skateboard park.

I went right up the ramps. There was one ramp that was really steep, but I was determined to climb it. I had to work very hard, but I got up almost to the top of the mountain!

Checking in with mom!

I went to Wal-Mart. As soon as we walked in, there were racks and racks of Halloween costumes. Mom looked through the pet costumes, but the tutu would have fit on my hind leg, the butterfly wings would have fit on my head, the hotdog and strap would have fit on 1/4 of my tummy. The woes of being a 74 pound boy!

Mom and mirrors....what's the attraction?

This is my side view....

Tired me!

This is Tom. He's a turkey. I hope he doesn't get eaten for Thanksgiving.

Look what I found at Lowe's!

Lowe's is really going crazy! Now they have firewood in their store.

There's not one single flower in the garden center now.

I practiced settling outside. I did a great job!

This week, I had my 2nd Walk and Talk evaluation, which was held at Lowe's. I went on a "scavenger hunt" and had to find different items in the store. I even helped the evaluator select and purchase reflector sticks for her driveway. I was doing such a wonderful job that one of the prospective puppy-sitters who was watching my Walk and Talk worked me for part of it. I was was excellent for her, too. Other skills that were evaluated were my "get dressed" command into a dog life jacket. I obeyed the command perfectly and showed no body sensitivity to wearing it. Yay! We did some body handling, as well.
Mom was very proud of me, and I was happy that everything that we practiced has paid off!

Afterwards, we went to a different location for the rest of the night. I was super good in my crate (all that practice has helped me!). I chewed my Kong toy, watched the happenings, and dozed maybe just a little bit!

And, I settled some more! I like to think that I was the supervisor for the event!

My half-sister, Delphi, and I practiced settling during the team meeting. I did a great job!

I was the "practice dog" for some of the new things the people are learning. I did a great job, but boy, it certainly is tiring!

After we were done with the "Walk and Talks" and the team meeting, I went to Burger King with my mom and uncle. There was a bus load of school girls who were on their way home from a sporting event. I got a lot of compliments! I settled perfectly as I waited in the long line.

After the humans finally got their food, I slept while they ate.

On my 8 month birthday, I went to Tractor Supply. Since there were treats on sale, mom bought me some. YAY for birthday treats!

So this is what it feels like to be 8 months old.

My official 8 month old portrait.

Sitting tall!

Harlow and me.
I went on a really fun outing to a hardware store that I've never been before. The best part of it? My uncle took me! I was so excited to go on another guy's outing. Woo hoo!

I settled very nicely while my uncle accomplished his mission--selecting the best snow shovel.

After careful consideration, we picked out this shovel. I can't wait to use it.

Work zone at the park! During my walk, I counted 4 dogs walking. There were two poodles, a Lab, and a little shaggy dog. Even though I noticed them, mom was impressed how well I kept on my mission--my walk. Yay for me!

On another walk, I heard a strange noise...it was water running down in this ditch. Cool!

We found chocolate milk on our walk. WAIT...it's not chocolate mud, it's better! It's MUD!!!

Mud puddles are very entertaining!

                                                                   Until Next Week,
                                                                             Lex
