Week 54 from Lex's View

Hello Readers,
I've had a wonderful week. I've done some new things and had a huge milestone! Read all about it in Week 54 from Lex's View!!

On Saturday, I kicked off the weekend by having some wonderful playtime amid these beautiful dandelions!
I even obliged Mom by posing for a picture.

It's a long and winding road!

I had puppy-sitting duties again at church. Look what a good job I'm doing!

Okay, okay...the puppy-sitter himself *may* have fallen asleep, too.
Posing for our weekly photo!
Kinley's 10 weeks now. Yep, I think he's getting bigger.

I wait very patiently while Kinley gets his pictures taken. Sometimes, Kinley asks me to get in the picture, too!
Happy Mother's Day to our human Mom!
Our Mom tells us that we're the best four pawed children she could wish for! Aww isn't that sweet!
In honor of Mother's Day, we went with our humans to an ice cream shoppe. What fun!!
Harlow and I got Doggie Ice Cream. What a fun treat!

Spring certainly is beautiful!
I practiced footings and walked over these rocks.
Mom and I practiced my obedience skills in the baby pool.
SIT

DOWN

STAND

I've taught Kinley to like the baby pool!
I also taught Kinley how to play in this spinning top. I love it and so does he!

Tractor Supply
I got to watch a delivery truck at Tractor Supply. It kind of smelled weird and was loud. I did great with it!
These boots are made for walking!
I'll take a pair of each color, please.
The cashier gave me several dog bones at Tractor Supply. I absolutely LOVED her! It was awesome. She even packed me a doggie bag of bones to go. Now, THAT is what I call service!
I made a DVD return to the RedBox.
This week, I had to have a time out. I was barking at Harlow a little (okay, maybe just a tiny bit more than a little!). So, Mom said I needed to time out in my crate for a few minutes. Well, immediately after Mom crated me, my wonderful nephew walked over to my crate and laid down. Yep, he was taking MY SIDE! I couldn't help, but smile! (even Mom did!)
Harlow, Kinley, and I practiced our sits on our walk, and we did awesome!

I tried to visit the horse, but she was lying down and wasn't interested in having visiting hours!
Look at this beautiful tree.
It's weird because there are flowers on the tree. Flowers should be on the ground! Thus, began the taste testing!
What's even more weird is that Mom says this is an apple tree! I don't understand because the flowers sure didn't taste like apples nor look like apples. Investigation initiated!
I think Kinley likes me!

I taught Kinley how to stick out his tongue for the camera!!

Uncle Lex (that's me) and Kinley

Oreo enjoyed rubbing on me! (shhh...she really does like me, even if she pretends she doesn't sometimes!)

Lowe's
Look at this cool Mustang! I want to drive it!!

Mom tried to show me these flapping curtains, but I wasn't interested.
Mom and I had fun practicing settling at this outdoor table, but the snacks never arrived at the table! I thought for sure there'd be some bacon bits and chicken poppers delivered.

Mom and I practice loose leash walking, obedience skills, and body handling skills (paw, ears, etc.). I even saw a little dog riding in a cart!

I'm the one to ask!!

I went on a really fun outing with my Uncle. It was a boys' day out! He and I were able to discuss the importance of being a good role model as Uncles!
I helped pick out glasses. I did a wonderful job settling and working with another handler. I was a wonderful representative of Guiding Eyes and made friends with lots of people. I can't help it...I'm that nice!

This is a cool pair of glasses, but wait--why are they on my head?
HA! It's an illusion!
Being the wonderful Uncle I am, I took my nephew to the park.
I taught Kinley how to walk on playground surfaces.
I encouraged Kinley to jump down!

I'm the class supervisor!
I thought this slide was cool, but I didn't go down it (yet!)
These stairs are too steep for Kinley, so I taught him it can be fun to just sit on the stairs.
It wasn't all work...We had a blast playing, too! We even got to hang out with a little girl who visited the playground. She liked us a lot, and we were able to show off some of the things we've been practicing.
I had a fun outing to the pond with Harlow and Kinley.
I had the best time playing with Harlow and this cool stick.
Look! We're synchronized! Both our ears are flying up!!
I have a special announcement to make....When I was playing in the water, I made a decision. I decided that I should pick up a new skill....that skill Mom calls my milestone........

SWIMMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Like I mean real swimming! I've always loved to splash in the water, but I decided to actually swim.

He goes into the water with a giant leap!

The water surrounds him!

He rises above the splash and has the stick in view.

He retrieves the stick.
I kept jumping into the water and had the best time. I can't believe I've waited this long to pick up this hobby!
Kinley enjoyed watching me from the shore!

I think I've earned the "retriever" part of my breed name!

We three musketeers had a blast!

Little, Medium, and Large

Don't all dogs retrieve sticks by pointing one end up into the air?!
There's nothing better than playing with a stick while at the pond!

In case you'd like to see me in action, here's a video clip. I'm a pro swimmer already!

After ALL that playing and swimming, Kinley and I were exhausted for the whole night! It's a good kind of exhausted, though!

I went on a fun outing to another city and walked on main street. Look what I found?

It was great practice for me to be around a steady stream of traffic. I was able to watch this fire truck, a police car, and an ambulance rushing by with their sirens on. It was almost like a parade, but louder and FASTER!

I had fun just chilling out a lot. We sat in lost of the chairs and just watched. There were adults, children, dogs (including 3 huskies!!), and so on. I even saw a little doll stroller with a doll in it!

This is a cool guy...he is made of instruments. Surprisingly, he didn't play a song for me. Must be he couldn't decide which instrument to play!

There's a misconception out there...that lions are really mean, loud, furry, soft, and big. Totally untrue in my experience. For instance, this is a lion, is it not? He is nice, quiet, hard, and not much bigger than me. Confusing!

I took another break in this soft grass and watched more traffic. I did very well with all the traffic.

This was the BEST shop I found!!! PLEASE! Can we go there?????!!! It sounds delightful!

There was this water foundation that looked amazing. I really wanted to go play in it, but Mom said it was not a pond, not a  baby pool, and not even a bathtub. How disappointing!

I went with my humans out to eat at Golden Corral. I was SUCH a good boy, even though I couldn't have one bite of all the food. We waited in line for quite awhile, so I used my charismatic personality to make friends with those around me. I will admit the hardest part of the outing was when we were at the ice machine, and there were ice cubes on the floor. I really wanted to have some ice (I have it all the time at home!), but Mom told me that I couldn't just pick it up off the floor. Bummer. Anyhow, I was a perfect gentleman the entire meal. I settled perfectly under the table and hardly even stirred. Mom was very proud of me!

I went to a hardware store, Value Center.

Look at me! Don't you think I could be in a commercial for the paint company?!!

Wal-Mart
I settled for quite awhile while Mom and Grandma went through these bins.

This garden seed box thingy spun around and around. After one glance, I decided I wasn't really interested in watching it go round and round. After all, who wants to be dizzy?

The pet aisle in Walmart has many challenges, including kibble on the floor (see the piece on the right!). I'm a good boy, though!

Dollar Store
I was a patient boy while I waited for Mom to check out. I'm almost always just stand in the check out line like this...still, calm, and patient!

To continue my new "Year Later" picture tradition...
A Year Ago...Mother's Day
A Year Later...Mother's Day
Until Next Week,
Lex
