Week 46 from Lex's View

Hello All,
It's me, Lex!! I got some news this week. I received my official In For Training (IFT) test date. It's August 18th. A few days before my IFT, I will leave mom and go to the guide dog college campus. My IFT date isn't set it stone, as it could change to an earlier month, but as of now, I'm going to spend the summer with mom!!!! WOOT!

 I started out the weekend by going to the St. Pat's Parade with my friend, Iron, also a Guiding Eyes puppy in training. 

After waiting for awhile, the parade finally started! 

I got to listen to bag pipes for the first time. They were very loud, but I listened very nicely!

Look--I have a muddy face!!It had been raining in the morning, and it was muddy. 

There was a lone horse in the parade. It took me forever to notice him, and even when I did notice him, I was very calm and just watched nicely. 

I got a bacon strip from the humane society. 

The parade kept going longer and longer, so I finally laid down!

I got a bag of bones from the Bark for Life truck.

Iron and I got our picture with the other dog at the parade! He's a lot bigger than I am...and I thought I was big! 

This picture is hard to see, but my favorite cousin Ella Mae came for a visit. I had a blast with her! 

My aunt gave brought me a belated birthday toy! I had the best time playing with it!

I went to church, and I love the attention I got from my little friend!

I made mom smile with this funny face I made to the camera!!

I played a game of "Parcheesi." What fun, but I never did find the cheese! 

I walked on this really weird set of stairs. 

When I got to the top of the stairs, there was a long bridge that I walked on.

The snow is melting!! I investigated the roaring water!

Walmart
Look at the sea of green...I thought I was momentarily transported to Ireland!

The make-up aisle has to be one of the most boring! 

Oreo and I are besties!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!! 

No, Mom! I'm not going to wear this as a hair bow!!!

Wait! Sammy is wearing MY BOW TIE???

I tried to be patient while Sammy had his photoshoot!

I was in my crate, and mom looked down at me...she couldn't help but laugh when she saw the face I was making. 

My best Bulldog impersonation!

Harlow and I went on a walk with our uncle. What fun!!

On Wednesday, I had my last official Walk and Talk evaluation. It took place at Tractor Supply, a grocery store (that particular store I've only been in like 2 times), and Dollar General (that particular location I've never been in). I did a great job, demonstrating my skills and how I am in various environment. My evaluator said that I have done a good job generalizing locations and being very well behaved in new locations. She said that my evaluation was such an easy one. Mom was very proud of me!!!!

After my evaluation, I went to Wal-Mart with my Uncle. We went to the men's department. Yay!

I went to my training class. I got to work with mom for class, which was great fun! School is hard work!

At class, I also helped mom put the Walk and Talk videos on to everyone's flashdrives. What a patient boy I am!

This is what I do when I'm waiting for mom to go out the door with me. All on my own, I sit and wait for mom to get on her shoes and get my leash. This always makes mom smile! 

I went to a parking lot, which I had never been to before. I practiced being in a new place, played tug with mom, and practiced some of my obedience skills. 

Walmart
I was a great boy at Walmart and was very patient.

Which color should I wear?

I visited Cricket, the horse! She and I are the same color! 

Wait! Did this come off of me?? I guess it's what is called shedding!

I visited some really nice cows!! I nicely said "Hello" to the cows by letting out a couple of barks. I don't think they speak canine.

They came up to the fence to see ME! They really liked me. I checked in nicely with mom, as we were watching the cows.

I helped mom make some returns at Walmart. I settled perfectly.

I tried to help mom pick out a good children's storybook. I couldn't find any books about Clifford, the big red dog.

I helped mom buy some dog food. 

I went to a fun outing to the movies. I saw Insurgent on opening day. 

I settled very nicely during the movie.

Aren't I handsome?!

I went to Dollar General. 

Cards, anyone?

I walked around Main Street and did a nice job with my loose leash walking.
